A key feature of the plan development process is extensive collaboration with a broad base of community members. Businesses and residents, community organizations, neighborhood associations, their services, arts, culture, and education are invited to contribute ideas and provide direction to the consultant team that will guide development of the plan.
Our process allows all of us to carefully evaluate the current effectiveness of the way our city functions, discover new opportunities for sustainable growth, and address the most pressing needs and future possibilities, while continuing to maintain areas that are demonstrating positive results.
Information is being collected at three levels: region-wide, citywide, and neighborhood-specific. The region-wide information will help all of us to understand Utica’s broader role in the State and help to guide recommendations that add the greatest value to regional economic prosperity and social vitality. At the same time, we will collect information citywide to more clearly understand how Utica contributes to regional dynamics. Finally, we will characterize the key features of all the City’s neighborhoods.
You will have the opportunity to get involved via the following:
- Steering Committee
- Neighborhood Meetings
- Focus Groups
- City-wide meetings
